Timberland Carrigan TDWGQ00942X0 Watch
The Timberland Carrigan TDWGQ00942X0 is a quartz chronograph with a 44 mm stainless steel case with IP grey finish and a black matte textured dial with subdials and silver indices. What sets it apart from the rest of the range is customisation: it includes three interchangeable aluminium bezels (dark grey, olive green and blue) and two straps (black silicone and dark brown water-resistant leather), both with buckle clasp. Water resistance is 5 ATM (50 metres) and the crystal is mineral.
The case is 11.85 mm thick and the case back is screw-down. The crown is push-pull. The chronograph is arranged in subdials on the black dial, with silver indices to keep legibility. Both straps are mounted with standard 22 mm pins, so they can be changed without tools. The three bezels are fitted and removed with the watch's snap-on system, with no need to go to a workshop.
The matte textured dial does not reflect light, so it reads the same in direct sunlight as indoors. It is the usual finish on functional watches, and it matches the IP grey case and silver indices: the contrast is designed so the time can be read quickly, not so the dial shines. The three bezels and two straps turn a single piece into several possible combinations, without having to buy a second watch.
What makes this Carrigan unique is not the chronograph: it is that you can change the bezel and the strap in seconds. On Monday you wear it with the grey bezel and the leather strap for a meeting. On Saturday you wear it with the olive green bezel and the silicone strap for the countryside. It is not a watch that adapts to you: it is a watch you adapt. And that, in a field watch range, is something none of the other Timberland models do.

Why choose this watch?
Three interchangeable aluminium bezels
The watch includes three bezels (dark grey, olive green and blue) that are changed with the case's snap-on system. It is the feature that sets this Carrigan apart from the rest of the Timberland range, which have a single fixed bezel.
Two straps: black silicone and water-resistant leather
The black silicone is for sports use and rain. The dark brown water-resistant leather is for more formal wear. Both are mounted with standard 22 mm pins, so they can be changed without tools.
Black matte textured dial with subdials
The matte textured finish prevents reflections, so the dial reads the same in direct sunlight. The silver indices contrast with the black background and the chronograph subdials stand apart from the rest.
44 mm IP grey case and 5 ATM
The stainless steel case with IP grey finish maintains the functional aesthetic of the Carrigan collection. The 5 ATM (50 metres) resistance covers splashes, rain and hand washing. It is not designed for swimming.

Frequently asked questions
How do you change the bezel?
The bezel is fitted into the case and removed with the watch's snap-on system. No tools or workshop visit are needed: you take it off and put the other bezel on by hand. It is best to do it over a soft surface so as not to mark the aluminium.
Are the straps standard 22 mm?
Yes. Both straps are mounted with standard 22 mm pins, so they can be changed for any strap of that width, not only the ones included in the set. The clasp is a buckle on both.
Does the aluminium bezel scratch easily?
Aluminium is softer than steel, so repeated rubbing can leave marks. It is the usual material for chronograph bezels and it is easy to change, but if you want a bezel that does not scratch, you would need to go for steel or ceramic, which this model does not include.
Does the matte textured dial get dirtier than a smooth one?
The textured surface can hold slightly more dust in areas that are not cleaned often, but it is not a problem if you wipe it with a soft cloth from time to time. The advantage is that it does not reflect, so it reads better in direct sunlight than a glossy dial.
Is it suitable for swimming?
No. The 5 ATM (50 metres) resistance covers splashes, rain and hand washing, but not swimming. The water-resistant leather on one of the straps is not designed for prolonged immersion either.
