Citizen Record Label: the design archive you can wear on your wrist

Record Label is not a collection of watches in the usual sense. It is a Citizen project that brings together some of the most personal designs in its history and returns them to the present with a contemporary reading. The name plays with two ideas: the record of the designs the brand has created over decades, and the idea of enjoying time as one enjoys a record in one's favourite space. It is not nostalgia: it is a way of understanding the watch as an object with history and character.

The line was born in 2021 within Citizen Collection with a clear purpose: to group the models that fall outside the conventional and give them their own context. Compared with other families of the brand more oriented towards instrumental use (Promaster) or classic mechanical watchmaking (Series 8, Tsuyosa), Record Label is defined by authored design: pieces that were bold in their time and are now reissued preserving the silhouette that made them recognisable.

What you will find in this category

Record Label is a line with global reach, but its distribution is not homogeneous. This category gathers the pieces of the line that have official distribution and warranty, and expands as Citizen adds new references to the catalogue. Not all the reissues that form part of Record Label in the global catalogue reach every market: availability depends on each country and each moment.

The line is characterised by recovering silhouettes that were groundbreaking in their day and bringing them back to the present with current materials and mechanisms. Each piece keeps the personality of the original design but adapts to current manufacturing standards and usage expectations. That is the central idea of the archive: it is not about copying the past, but about putting it back into circulation with today's tools.

If in the future Citizen expands the distribution of new references, they will be added to this category. Meanwhile, the page documents what Record Label is, what criteria its pieces follow and why not all the reissues in the global catalogue are available in every market.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is Record Label?

It is a Citizen line that brings together reinterpretations of the brand's historical designs. It is not a collection of new watches created from scratch, but an archive of silhouettes that were bold in their time and now return with a contemporary reading. The name plays with the idea of a record and with that of enjoying time as one enjoys a record.

Is it a limited edition line?

Not all references are limited. The line combines regular production models with occasional short-run releases, especially in the more daring colour variants or collaborations. Limited edition status depends on each specific reference, not on the line as a whole.

Are all Record Label models available in Europe?

No. Record Label's distribution is not homogeneous: Citizen produces some references for the Japanese market or for selected Asian markets, and those pieces do not reach Europe through official channels. This category gathers the ones that do have official distribution and warranty, and expands when new references are added.

Is Record Label a line of everyday watches or collector's pieces?

Both. Record Label pieces are meant to be worn: they are watches with current mechanisms and water resistance suitable for everyday use. But their historical weight and limited editions also make them objects appreciated by collectors. The line does not force a choice between display case and wrist.
