Citizen Watches

Technology designed to be worn every day

A brand that starts with how you want to use your watch

Citizen doesn't start from a trend to make a watch. It starts from a technology, a way of wearing it, or a specific need, and from there it develops each collection. At Joyería Pato we work with Citizen as an official distributor in Spain, because it's a brand that has spent decades doing something we consider essential in a watch: developing technology with how it will be used in mind.

There is no single Citizen. There are different ways of understanding what you want your watch for.

Eco-Drive Super Titanium Automatic Radio Controlled Diving Women

Eco-Drive — Forget about the battery

Eco-Drive converts light, both natural and artificial, into energy for the watch. The idea isn't simply that it's solar: it's that you can stop thinking about when the battery needs changing.

You wear it, it receives light, and it keeps running. Even if it spends a while in a drawer, its power reserve means it will be ready when you need it again.

It's a technology Citizen has been developing since 1976 and has turned into one of its hallmarks.

Super Titanium — Strength without weight on the wrist

There are watches that can withstand a lot of use, but they also make themselves noticed because of their weight. Super Titanium starts from precisely the opposite idea: achieving a resistant watch that feels light to wear.

The titanium used by Citizen reduces the weight compared to steel, and the Duratect treatment protects the surface against wear. That's why this technology appears in watches designed to be worn for many hours and to do many things with them.

If you want to see which models carry this combination of lightness and resistance, you can check out, for example, the Citizen Zenshin.

Tsuyosa — Your first automatic

An automatic watch changes something important: it no longer runs only because a battery gives it energy. The movement of your wrist sets the mechanism in motion. Tsuyosa brings that experience to an easy-to-wear watch, with dials that change depending on the light and a design that doesn't force you straight into classic watchmaking.

It's a simple way to start wearing a mechanical watch without having to look for a design that's too classic. If you already own other automatics, you can also explore all the Citizen automatics.

Series 8 — When you want a little more watchmaking

Series 8 is designed for those looking for a contemporary watch but who don't want to settle for design alone.

The cases have sharper lines, the dials incorporate textures, and the movements are prepared to offer greater resistance to magnetism. These are details you might not see at first glance, but they're part of how the watch is built.

The result is a serious, modern watch, capable of working just as naturally with a shirt as with more casual clothing.

Attesa — The right time, wherever you are

Travelling changes one of the simplest things about a watch: what time it should show. Attesa models with radio synchronisation receive a time signal and can automatically correct the time. So, instead of having to look up the correct time and adjust the watch when you change time zones, the watch itself takes care of staying synchronised when it has access to the corresponding signal.

Super Titanium also keeps the watch light and resistant, while the sapphire crystal provides protection especially suited to a watch designed to be worn for years.

If you're looking for this same convenience through radio synchronisation, you can view all the Citizen Radio Controlled.

Promaster — A watch designed for when conditions change

Promaster isn't born just to look good on the wrist. It's born to work when the environment becomes more demanding.

In diving models, the unidirectional bezel, the screw-down crown, the luminescence, and the water resistance all have a specific function. They aren't there to look sporty: they're there so the watch can be used in and out of the water with greater safety and legibility.

That's why some Promaster models also include specific functions for particular activities, such as alarms or depth gauges.

Lady — Precision can also look like a jewel

In the Lady collection, Citizen combines the convenience of Eco-Drive with finishes that bring the watch closer to the world of jewellery. Mother-of-pearl dials, gold-tone details, diamonds, or decorated crowns change the watch's presence, but the technology is still working behind the scenes: it receives light and keeps running without you having to worry about changing a battery.

It's the difference between wearing a beautiful piece and wearing a beautiful piece that's also practical for every day. You can view all the models in Citizen women's watches.

Other collections that complete the catalogue

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Eco-Drive and a normal solar watch?

The important difference for the wearer is how it uses that energy. Eco-Drive is designed to make use of different light sources, not only direct sunlight. Once charged, it can keep running for a prolonged period even when it isn't receiving light. That's why, in everyday use, the advantage isn't simply that it's "solar": it's that you can forget about changing the battery.

Are Citizen watches quartz?

Not all of them. Citizen makes quartz, Eco-Drive, automatic watches and models with radio synchronisation, among other technologies.

The important question isn't whether a Citizen is quartz, but what type of operation suits you.

Is a Citizen automatic worth it?

The difference lies in the experience of wearing a mechanical mechanism. The watch draws its energy from the movement of your wrist, and you can see part of that mechanics at work. Tsuyosa is an accessible way to enter this part of Citizen's watchmaking, while Series 8 takes the concept towards more advanced movements and constructions.

Can Citizen watches get wet?

It depends on the watch, and here it's always worth checking the water resistance stated on the model's specification sheet. A watch prepared for splashes isn't the same as a Promaster designed specifically for diving. Water resistance is a feature of the specific model, not of the brand in general.

Do you have official spare parts?

Yes. We can arrange spare parts and original Citizen straps to keep your watch in the best condition. For servicing or repairs, we handle the corresponding service with the specialised technical service.
